Yoga Teachers’ Weekend
An Ashram style experience to come together with other like-minded souls, dive deeper into the inner realms, and evolve your personal practice & teaching skills.
7th-9th October 2022
Yoga Teachers’ Weekend – Ashram Style Gathering
In a world of luxury yoga retreats in sumptuous country houses, with gift bags and hot tubs, we want to offer you something different. Julie & Alison have been regular visitors and students at the Mandala Yoga Ashram in mid-Wales for over 20 years. The simplicity of the accommodation allows an opportunity to engage deeply into pratyahara. The senses are not distracted by external delights. When we remove outside distractions, we are gifted with the ideal circumstances to go deeper within, to explore the ‘real Self’.
This Yoga Teachers’ Weekend is designed as an Ashram Style experience. Basic, clean, warm accommodation; nourishing, delicious, healthy food; quality teaching and practices that will guide you deeper into the inner landscape of the Self. And of course, a wonderful opportunity to gather with other like-minded souls.
Exploring Subtlety to Guide us Back Home
Our theme for the weekend is exploring practices that take us more deeply into the subtle realms. We will be refining, softening and adding more subtlety to the practices of Pranayama, Meditation and Mantra. There will be periods of silence (mouna) to reduce the natural desire for externalisation. There will also be periods of pure joy, fun and sounds too!
We will be following a structure that is common to many Ashram settings, and will include early morning chanting, karma yoga, satsang, kirtan, havan (fire ceremony) alongside specific teaching sessions.

Accommodation
Redfield Centre is a small, intimate venue set up as an Intentional Community with an eco-friendly residential educational space.
The Yoga Studio is light and airy with a gorgeous log burner to keep us cosy. There is a lounge for us to chill out in, and a separate dining room to enjoy all our delicious meals.
The venue is in a rural location with a small wooded area to explore.
Sleeping accommodation is based around 4 rooms with 2 or 3 beds in each. Unfortunately we can’t offer any single accommodation in the main house. There is an option for a Budget Style bed in the Stables. This consists of a single bed in a dormitory with 3/4 partition walls. We are offering this at a budget price as there is very little sound privacy and the room is very basic. This will suit you if you are on a tight budget and are a heavy sleeper! There are 2 beds available in the stables at the very low price of £395.
Your Tutors
Julie & Alison are combining their strengths and expertise to bring you a wonderful weekend to experience the full spectrum of Yogic practices. The weekend will follow the standard Ashram routine that they have enjoyed on their many visits to Mandala Yoga Ashram in Wales.
Julie Hemmings
Julie has been practising Yoga for almost 3 decades and teaching for 26 wonderful years. She is a Senior Yoga Teacher & Trainer who specialises in teaching courses & CPD Days in Pranayama, Mantra, Chakras & Meditation. Her own practice is deeply rooted in these ‘inner’ facing limbs of yoga. She is currently getting to grips with the intricacies of the Sanskrit language. See full Bio here.
Julie will be teaching sessions on Pranayama, Voice Activation & Rhythm, Meditation, Chanting, Asana and Personal Practice development.

Alison Foster
Alison found Yoga over 20 years after being a dedicated Tai Chi practitioner. She started her teaching journey in 2015 and runs her own Yoga Shala. Her teaching style emphasises the benefits of mental health, and weaves breathwork through beautifully mindful movements. She is a passionate Mantra Yogini and will often be found learning new chords on her harmonium or guitar. You can find more here.
Alison will be taking the morning chanting sessions, guiding us through blissful Yoga Nidras, and offering an Introduction to the Harmonium class.

Food
We will be fed and nourished by the lovely Sally Christie of One Fat Hen. She is highly recommended and has catered for many yoga retreats and events. The food will be vegetarian/vegan with other dietary requirements easily accommodated.
